I believe that the mandatory retirement age should be abolished for two reasons. First, abolishing the mandatory retirement age will help solve the labor shortage. Japan is a hyper-aged society and will face a serious labor shortage in the near future. Without the mandatory retirement age system, Japanese companies will be able to secure an adequate workforce. Second, by abolishing the mandatory retirement age, the government can raise the age for receiving pension benefits, saving the national pension system, which is essential for the survival of the elderly.
